Also - Anne Lamott has a whale passage in her recent book Somehow - about love - that made me think of you:

“Whales are complex creatures, too, and a lot like us in the sense that many of them have very close familial bonds. For orcas, family connections are quite strong, and we know they pitch in to healthcare for other members of their family, share the pray they catch, and help babysit younger members in the group if Mom is busy. There was a Bigg’s orca in the Salish sea known as T2C2, or “Tumbo. “He had scoliosis and would often lay behind his family. He wasn’t able to take part in hunts like the rest of the group, but for more than a decade, other whales, slow down I made sure to feed him.” (p118)

My FOMO about the BK Loren event is only outweighed by the fact that I can’t get your beautiful book until May when I’m in the states. I shipped it to my high school bestie’s house and bought her a copy too. Along with some extra copies to mule back to Nairobi. I’ll be looking forward to having you zoom visit our book club. So deeply excited for you and all of these beautiful moments. ❤️
